I met up with Gary and Tim that had come up from Knoxville with a larger group of folks. We wadered up and rigged up our rods and off to the water we went. We headed down river to one of the spots that has been very productive this week. Gary found him a honey hole for the morning and smacked fish after fish in this one deep spot in the middle of the river. Tim was moving in and around hitting the pockets with nymphs.
Thankfully the weathermen were consistently wrong because until 2 o’clock the weather was gorgeous.
I worked on mending and a few casting techniques and getting good drifts. Gary was counting in spanish for every fish he caught. He had hooked 20 fish before we went to lunch.
Tim had gotten up into a run with a good current seam on the far side so we worked on line managment and seeing the takes.
The smaller to average sized fish would just slam the nymphs where as the better fish we caught would just lightly pick it up. We broke for lunch when the wind picked up and it started to drizzle so we headed off to Webbs Store for the Spag Special.
After a good lunch we headed back out and surveyed a couple of other spots only to find fisherman there. So we ended up the day fishing 1/4 mile below where we had fished in the morning. So after lunch we weren’t necesarily catching the numbers of fish that we had caught in the morning but the size of the fish was much better. The better fish of the day came under the cloud cover. The water temp today was 58 degrees where we were at. We never really saw anything signifigant in the way of a hatch today. But there are a lot of nymphs in the water. We had a great day out on the water and look forward to you guys coming back out.

“Hi Josh,
Just wanted to thank you again for such a great day. Being our first time on the SoHo we weren’t sure what to expect, but the river, the fish and our guide (you) all far exceeded my already lofty expectations. I can honestly say I’ve never had more fun/ success fishing than I did on Saturday. I look forward to heading back up your way again…
Thanks,
Gary”
