I find this fly to be most effective to be fished as a dropper from a dry rig. This fly can be allowed to sink into the film or can be fished dry. I can also be effective as the last fly in a tandem nymph rig, such that it’s allowed to swing up and hatch at the end of your drift with your line held taut. The CDC loop wing bud just gives it the impression of a sulphur that’s stuck or struggling and the fish can’t stand to let it get by.
